Our Programs
Our programs focus on understanding the process of student and scholar visas, benefits, restrictions, orientation, travel, and employment. We want to foster international student leadership and build community. Our goals are to promote cross-cultural understanding throughout the University and create connections and friendships that include partnering with student clubs, organizations, and campus partners.

Life in the US Series
Life in the U.S. is an ongoing series of transition and academic support workshops. This fall ISS will host online information sessions to cover academic and cultural adjustment topics. ISS will offer the same session at two different times to accommodate class schedules and students in different time zones. Session 1 will start at 9:00 AM CDT. Session 2 will start at 3:00 PM CDT.
International Coffee Hour
International Coffee Hour brings the KU community together to chat over coffee, tea, and snacks.Each coffee hour features a presentation by an international student on their home country.

Haskell Indian Nations University Pow Wow
Haskell Indian Nations University (HINU) is the premiere tribal university in the United States, offering quality education to Native American students. Haskell is located here in Lawrence. Pow Wows are the Native American people’s way of meeting together, to join in dancing, singing, visiting, renewing old friendships, and making new ones. Pow Wows are one of the best ways to experience Native American culture. At a Pow Wow you can experience dancing, singing, foods, and crafts.We hope to return to this event in the spring of 2022.

Kansas City Trip Series
Kansas City is a large city in the heart of the U.S., about 45 minutes away from Lawrence. ISS organizes bus trips to Kansas City once or twice per semester.The Kansas City Trip Series is Currently Suspended Due to COVID.

Employment Topic Workshops
During the Fall and Spring semesters ISS will have immigration based workshops for our international students.
