Orientation
For graduate (ex. Master's, PhD) students, orientation is only mandatory for students in (or planning on changing to) F-1 or J-1 status. You are, however, encouraged to attend if you wish. Orientation is the best way to complete the various required check-ins and learn about your new campus. You can find more information and register for orientation on our website.
- If attending the "You at KU - International" orientation, refer to the New Student Arrival Dates.

*Arriving this late does not guarantee that you will be able to complete all of your required check-ins in order to enroll before the first day of classes. Late enrollment fees will be assessed if enrolling on/after the first day of classes.
Although orientation is not mandatory for a graduate student NOT in F-1 or J-1 status, you must still complete the following required check-ins before you are allowed to enroll:
- ISS ARRIVE check-in
- Watkins Health Center check-in
- Applied English Center check-in (unless waived)
- Participating in "You at KU - International" Orientation? If so, these required check-ins will be taken care of during the orientation schedule.
- If you're not going through “You at KU - International” Orientation, come to the ISS front desk before your published arrival date (chart above) to sign up for your ISS check-in and receive information on appointments for the Watkins Health Center and Applied English Center check-ins.
- If you are an Edwards campus student AND you are NOT in J-1 status (ex. H-1B, H-4, E-2), you may have an option to take care of some of the required check-ins at the Edwards Campus.
- Please review the ISS-Edwards Campus page to find out about your options.
